About Visual Attention Therapy Lite
Visual Attention Therapy Lite offers free access to a professional cognitive training app designed to help brain injury and stroke survivors, students with attention challenges, and rehabilitation professionals assess and improve visual scanning abilities.
The app uses evidence-based cancellation exercises—the gold standard for testing and treating visuospatial neglect—enhanced with digital tools that traditional paper-based methods cannot provide. In Test mode, you can screen for scanning or attention deficits. Practice mode trains users to find targets in a structured left-to-right, top-to-bottom sequence, reinforcing the eye movements needed for efficient reading and focused attention. This structured scanning practice helps retrain the brain to process visual information more effectively, strengthening concentration, memory, attention to detail, and processing speed.
The lite version gives you a fully functional preview of the full app, letting you explore Test and Practice modes with one level and layout. You can experiment with 1 or 2 targets simultaneously, adjust signal and target colors and styles, and generate professional email reports—all at no cost. Using two targets at once engages working memory and alternating attention, making this approach valuable for users who need to track multiple focus points.
What sets this app apart is its responsive feedback system. Auditory and visual cues provide instant reinforcement, keeping users engaged and motivated. Timed exercises add challenge and urgency, encouraging both speed and accuracy. Automated scoring eliminates manual counting and delivers detailed data on accuracy by quadrant, completion time, and errors—information that therapists use to track progress and adjust treatment plans. The customizable layouts and 10 difficulty levels adapt to individual needs, whether you're working with one user or managing multiple clients.
This app contains no external ads, in-app purchases, or data collection, so you can focus entirely on therapy without distractions or privacy concerns. The app was developed by a certified Speech-Language Pathologist and is used worldwide by SLPs, occupational therapists, vision specialists, and neuropsychologists to support adults and children with dyslexia, dementia, and attentional deficits.
Users of all ages find motivation in racing against the clock to beat their own scores. Letter-based levels support literacy goals, while symbol-based levels strengthen visual memory. Whether you're a clinician seeking an efficient assessment and training tool or an individual working to rebuild cognitive skills, Visual Attention Therapy Lite provides a practical, evidence-based starting point.
